Cherie Diaz is Executive Director, Education Innovation at Western Sydney
University. Cherie and her team work across a range of initiatives including
developing market-driven microcredentials co-created with industry, designing new education models, and partnering with EduGrowth on the establishment of the Australian Higher Education EdTech Innovation Network.
Cherie is a Non-Executive Director of MEGT (Australia) Ltd, Advisor to the Future Skills Organisation, and Technology Advisory Committee member for Aruma Services Limited.
Prior to joining Western Sydney University, Cherie was the Managing Director, Australia at OpenLearning, an ASX-listed edtech company that supports more than 3 million learners and 200+ education providers. In 2020, Cherie co-authored the OpenCreds Microcredential Framework, designed for Australian lifelong learners, which has since been adopted by education providers in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, and the US.
Armed with 20+ years’ experience across the secondary, vocational, tertiary, and non-accredited education sector, Cherie is dedicated to building organisations and service models that put the learner at the centre of the design and delivery process.
